Even Jim Carrey knew it was time to go home.”ĭavidson said the important thing was that they were all in it together, though as he did, his background started to get fuzzy, which made Strong and McKinnon ask if he has been doing the show from home this whole year. Then the election was over, Heat Miser loses, clearly the right time to end the season - to leave, but no. “Also, the week I was here, the sitting president who said COVID would disappear got COVID,” he continued. “And he couldn’t do it because he was running for president. When Rock came out, he noted that his episode feels like it happened “six years ago.” To further prove his point of “how messed up” the year has been and how fast things have changed, “I wanted Kanye West to be the musical guest,” he said of his September 2020 episode. Memorable behind-the-scenes events also were mentioned, namely Alex Moffat reminding the audience of the time singer Morgan Wallen was booked for the show - “and then unbooked,” followed Mikey Day. “It was a really hard year, but sometimes adversity only sharpens creativity,” Strong said before cutting to a highlight reel from the season that was just a slow-motion clip of guest host Elon Musk dancing as Wario. The first-year cast members - Andrew Dismukes, Punkie Johnson and Lauren Holt - noted it was a weird time to start on a show like “Saturday Night Live” because they couldn’t even be in the writers’ room. “We went from, ‘I love New York!’ to ‘I hate that guy,” said Melissa Villaseñor. “And I remember how we slowly stopped doing that until there was just one weird guy doing it alone for two weeks,” Beck Bennett said. Chloe Fineman pointed out how the whole city would come together to bang pots and pans at 7 o’clock every night to say thank you to the doctors and nurses working to eradicate the virus. They are “the people who show up to the scene of an emergency and go, ‘Oh damn, look at that!'”Īnd of course New York, where “Saturday Night Live” films, was forever changed by the pandemic. “That’s when we started inviting second responders,” Thompson said. Although Bryant laughed at this, the show had receipts and quickly cut to a photo to prove it. “One time - and this is true - a guy in the audience was just reading a medical textbook,” Strong said. Not only did they have to wear masks and sit in socially-distanced pods for the majority of the season, but also, during the early pandemic days, the audience was made up of first responders, “which sounds really nice but we quickly realized that a doctor who left an ER after a 30-hour shift is maybe not the best audience for comedy,” Bryant said. This episode was the first one with a full (and fully vaccinated audience). The audience for the show changed over the course of the season, as well. Pete Davidson shared that he couldn’t believe he made it the entire season without testing positive - “for COVID,” he quickly clarified.īut it wasn’t only the cast members who had a different experience this year on “Saturday Night Live,” and Chris Redd reminded everyone of this by telling a story about the time guest host Adele was getting her COVID test next to him and “we locked eyes and I panicked and said, ‘It’s a living.'” “That led to a lot of confusion.īryant reminisced about holding her breath for 10 seconds at a time because she heard that if you could do that, you didn’t have COVID and “I believe in science.” That latter statement got raucous cheers from the live, in-studio audience. “I remember there were so many COVID precautions that if I wanted to hug anyone, I had to pull them into a closet and do it in the dark, away from the authorities,” McKinnon said. They showed a photo from a rehearsal, during which cast members wore masks in addition to their wigs and costumes, and they used stock footage of people in hazmat suits to represent what the writers’ room looked like.

Had I intended to stay in the hotel, this review would have likely involved more aspects of the property. I wasn’t anticipating a stay in New Jersey initially, but circumstances forced that outcome, a common hazard of traveling.Īs such, this was not a calculated, planned, nor intentional stay – it was a consequence of traveling during thin operations. After spending the day at a meeting and working in New York City, my departure out of Newark, NJ on United Airlines had been delayed several times and then ultimately canceled late in the evening. I wanted to offer a little context around this stay and review. If you haven’t followed us on Facebook or Instagram, add us today. Grog starts to exclaim to Scanlan that he has made it through the entire battle without flying into a rage, just as he is grappled by the frog, but as he is about to be reeled in, another Fireball detonates nearby, exploding the frog into bits and pieces and leaving the ritual leader prone on the ground. Three sahuagin witnessing this stare in stunned silence, allowing Grog to behead them with one swing of his greataxe. The ritual leader calls out for his sahuagin brothers to aid him, for the ritual is broken, but the frog swallows him whole. The giant frog heads straight for the tattooed humanoid male, grappling him with its tongue. As Scanlan flees a sahuagin that Grog quickly kills and Vash casts Fireball at a group of sahuagin. Just then, two bursts of light come out from the frog's eyes, causing Grog and Scanlan to flee to a larger chamber, where the rest of the party is fighting sahuagin, where a tattooed humanoid male wearing a headdress is leading a ritual. Scanlan deduces that the " shark-god temple" was constructed atop an even older "frog-god temple". Grog starts to pound on a small drum he is carrying as Scanlan lights a candle, places it on the rock, and rings the bell, causing the boulder to animated into a giant frog, who croaks the name Hoarmorath. Scanlan jokingly thanks Grog by telling the goliath that he "want to have babies" and tells him to "hit it". Scanlan, curious if the bell will summon a creature that they will fight and loot treasure from, asks Grog for his opinion, and Grog supposes that Scanlan should go with his gut. Scanlan expresses his desire to ring a bell they find on a boulder, but Arnicor warns against it and Thurista threatens to Fireball him if he touches the bell. Grog Strongjaw, Scanlan Shorthalt, and partymates Arnicor, Thurista, and Vash are in an underground sahuagin temple to their god, Hoarmorath. Returning to the city, they’re almost killed by assassins and then almost arrested by the Watch! What the hell is going on in Stilben? And what does this pompous sorcerer want? Synopsis Scanlan and Grog loot a shark-man temple in the swamp outside Stilben. Hi-Do MK III: Upgraded variant of the Rebel version painted black and olive green, making it look similar to the original. It can also airdrop missiles that are capable of nullifying projectiles. Hi-Do MK II: Upgraded variant of the Rebel version now painted in red. seen in Universal Metal Slug: Fierce Battle. Hi-Do (Universal): Jet black variant of the Rebel version. Hi-Do(Amadeus): Variant created by the Amadeus Syndicate in Metal Slug Attack, it looks just like the original model only painted purple and ridden by a Morden Robot. It also found in the first scene of Mission 5 in Metal Slug 6, deploying both the player and Rebel Army soldiers against Invaders. Hi-Do (Transport): Variant ridden by Rumi Aikawa in Metal Slug 7. Regular Army Helicopter: Variant used by the Regular Army in Metal Slug 4. Hi-Do:The original, as ridden by Donald Morden himself. The speed of its movement and attacks will begin to increase as its heath lowers. The same attacks are used in a Metal Slug 3 mini-boss fight by a Mars Person disguised as Morden. Its main attack is to launch heat-seeking missiles from the front, and after some time, the Hi-Do will begin to carpet bomb the entire screen. If the player stays under him too long, the minigun underneath will fire from right to left. Morden is constantly aiming at the player and can fire in any direction except under or above. The overall armaments of the various Hi-Do models vary, both on-board and those carried by their passengers, but a nose-mounted missile launcher with three tubes is found in nearly all models.Īs the Hi-Do is the personal transportation of General Morden, he himself appears on the cabinet, firing rockets from his bazooka constantly, in the same way he does from the Hairbuster Riberts. The Regular Army's variant of the Hi-Do is called the Regular Army Helicopter. There is also a longer green version that appears in Metal Slug 6, and another green version that appears during Metal Slug 7 credits, ridden by Rumi Aikawa. In Metal Slug 4, there is a blue variant that is used by the Regular Army to transport their commando units, likely a repurposed version of the original captured after the Rebel's defeat. It is the last boss from Metal Slug: Super Vehicle-001 and later appears in Metal Slug 3 as a mid-boss of the last mission used by a Mars Person masquerading as Morden. It is a modified version of the Orewana KO-42H "The Keesi I" transport helicopter that was owned by the Ruschen Federation. Designed for testing purposes, it has heavy armor and is equipped with several weapons, making it a versatile combat vessel. The Hi-Do is a tandem rotor helicopter used by Donald Morden, which is also used in carrying VIPs.
There’s plenty of other features that we won’t go into too much detail here, but some to highlight is Low Power Mode, a feature that’s been in the iPhone since iOS 9. (Image credit: Apple) Other macOS 12 features Safari 15 still doesn’t feel ready for launch, and perhaps it would have been better for it to have a ‘beta’ tag for now, giving users the option of two versions for Safari if they felt daring. We did experience some issues where certain Tab Groups wouldn’t sync with an iPhone 13 Pro on iOS 15, or it would randomly crash when multiple tabs would open while a 4K YouTube video would play. We could put the case forward that Apple’s Photos app or the Calendar app could have benefited more from a similar redesign. Using Safari 15 on a Mac mini, it works fine, but it does beg the question of whether the redesign was really needed. The same applies to Safari in macOS Monterey, with Apple now giving users the option to choose between the compact tab design, or the classic look. Since then, it’s been dramatically scaled back due to user feedback, especially on iOS where the address bar has gone from being at the top to being placed at the bottom. When it was showcased, the company highlighted the compact tab bars that would sit alongside the address bar, while Tab Groups would allow you to access certain tabs on any Apple device you own. It’s a great app that we encourage you to try out, just to see how it may benefit you in the long run.Īpple’s web browser has seen many changes since the latest version’s unveiling at WWDC. You can also ask Siri to run one, or have the icon in the Dock, so when you right click, you can access any recently used shortcuts. If you use a particular one more often than others, you can pin some to the MenuBar, giving you easy access to them. The app looks similar to Shortcuts in iPadOS, and if you already have set up any Shortcuts on there, they sync over to the Mac, which was a big timesaver for us.īut there’s also some added benefits of using Shortcuts on the Mac. It can look daunting at first, but Apple has made sure to make it as easy as possible. IOS users have been able to do this since iOS 12, and now Mac users can do the same in Monterey. Or, if you want to enable split-screen so that Safari and the Notes app display alongside one another, there is a Shortcut for that. If you want the wallpaper on your Mac to change every hour, Shortcuts can do that. Essentially, it can cut down some of the tasks that you may do every day into an automation. Shortcuts is an app that you may have seen on your iOS device, but not sure what it actually is. It’s a shame but we’ll update the review once both features are available. Again, Apple confirmed to us that it’s coming in a later release. Meanwhile, Universal Control enables anyone with an iPad mini (2021), iPad Air (2020) and iPad Pro (2021) or another device running iPadOS 15, to use the tablet as a second screen, so you can drag content across to your Mac seamlessly. But, Apple did confirm to us that SharePlay is coming to iOS 15.1, so eventually you’ll be able to use the feature across your Mac, iPhone and iPad soon enough. SharePlay was touted at WWDC 2021 as something that could help you share content with other family members and friends, but that’s coming to Monterey in a later release. However, there are a couple of features that are missing for now. There’s simply too much to talk about in this review, but almost every app, including the design of macOS has seen a refinement in some way, and it’s welcome. Focus has already been a great way of customizing our iOS devices to fit our workflows, and the same applies in Monterey. You’ll spot many improvements across the board, from tags in the Notes app, to the Focus feature that’s already appeared on iPhone and iPad. macOS 12 Monterey is continuing this tradition, albeit with new features mostly carried over from iOS 15.Īpple says that the aims for Monterey are to help you better communicate with family and friends, alongside boosting your productivity for whatever workflows you use every day. More recently, macOS updates of Mountain Lion and High Sierra have more or less followed this mantra. Mac OS X Snow Leopard from 2009 is the greatest example, where the company made sure to mention that there were zero new features, just improvements. Across the years Apple has brought out macOS releases that focus more on refinements than features. The CX-30 is also equipped with a good amount of standard features. It also boasts an impressive safety score, an optional turbocharged engine that has more horsepower than either of the Encore GX’s engines, an elegant interior and a starting MSRP that is a few thousand dollars less than the Buick’s. The Mazda CX-30 offers some of the sportiest driving dynamics in the class. Deciding between the two will likely come down to personal preference.Ĭompare the Encore GX and Seltos » Buick Encore GX vs. Both of these small crossovers are similarly slow and have fairly sedate driving manners. The Kia has a slightly more upscale cabin and a smoother ride than the Encore GX, but the Buick is equipped with more standard features. They also have similar starting price points. Both of these subcompact SUVs provide impressive cargo holds and upscale interiors, and they offer a comfortable amount of passenger space for the class. The Kia Seltos has a lot in common with the Encore GX.
